Mara said the Giants were aware of defensive end Josh Mauro’s upcoming four-game PED suspension before signing the Arizona Cardinals free agent but that Mara gave the OK anyway.

“We were aware of that,” Mara said. “Dave told me that that was gonna happen before we signed him, but I still gave the OK to sign him. We have some coaches that have worked with him before that believe he can help us long-term, so I gave the OK.”

Mauro played for new Giants defensive coordinator James Bettcher in Arizona.
