14 yrs. for shakedown cop

- Andrew Keshner

A DISGRACED ex-cop was sentenced to more than 14 years of prison Tuesday for his role in a violent extortion crew.

Instead keeping his oath to protect and serve, Besnik Llakatura followed his urge to extract “protection” money and shake down Queens business owners.

Llakatura was an active duty officer in Staten Island’s 120th precinct in 2013, when he was leading a double life as a shakedown man.

One of his victims was an Astoria businessman who was forced to fork over $4,000 a month to the crew’s ringleader, Redinel Dervishaj.

The man asked Llakatura, his friend, for help, but the crooked cop discouraged the victim from going to the authorities.

Llakatura warned him Dervishaj was dangerous and had ties to Albanian organized crime.

Llakatura, 38, pleaded guilty in 2015 to extortion conspiracy and was fired from the NYPD.

In addition to his 171-month term, he’ll have to forfeit $10,000 and pay back his victims another $10,000.
