Jay & Bey worked to save union
HARD WORK kept JAY-Z’s marriage afloat.
The hip hop mogul — who has opened up about his past infidelity following rampant fan speculation — says he and his wife, Beyoncé, put in major effort to overcome his missteps.
“Much like you, I have a beautiful wife who is understanding and knew that I’m not the worst of what I’ve done,” JAY-Z told David Letterman on “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” the legendary talk show host’s latest project on Netflix.
“We did the hard work of going to therapy, and really we love each other so, we really put in the work, and for years,” the rapper continued. “I like to believe that we’re in a better place today but still working and communicating and growing.”
Speculation about unfaithfulness from JAY-Z intensified after Beyoncé’s sister Solange attacked him in an elevator at a Met Gala after-party in 2014, and picked up further steam with Beyoncé’s 2016 “Lemonade” album, which featured lyrics heavily insinuating her husband’s infidelity.
JAY-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, issued a cryptic apology on his 2017 album “4:44.” He and Letterman landed on the topic during their interview after the former “Late Show” host spoke about his own infidelity, which he first admitted to in 2009.
