As Gary Sanchez strode to the plate with the tying runs on base, a few teammates on the Yankees felt like something dramatic was about to happen.

Dellin Betances felt it. Giancarlo Stanton said so, too.

Sanchez’s three-run homer against Fernando Rodney emphatical­ly transforme­d a sleepy two-run deficit in the ninth inning into a resounding 4-3 win over the Twins, providing the rolling Yanks their sixth straight win.

Of all of the accomplish­ments Sanchez already has accumulate­d in the whirlwind start to his career, the All-Star catcher never previously had ripped a walk-off hit of any kind in the majors.

“I think I had one in Triple-A, but just one,” Sanchez said through a smile and through his translator. “This was definitely the first in the big leagues.
