Cop rape accuser’s suit moves forward
A TEEN who accused two former NYPD detectives of rape will have her day in civil court sooner than expected.
A Brooklyn federal magistrate judge decided Thursday that discovery in the teen’s $50 million civil rights case shouldn’t be put on pause while the criminal case rolls ahead against cops Richard Hall and Eddie Martins.
Lawyers for the city and the two men wanted a stay in the lawsuit, but Magistrate James Orenstein said evidence production should go ahead “without meaningless delay.”
Prosecutors hit Hall and Martins with a 50-count indictment for allegedly raping the 19-year-old in a police van in September. The cops, who resigned from the NYPD, say the sex was consensual.
