Bust made in brutal attack on Qns. mom
COPS HAVE arrested a man they suspect attacked and possibly sexually assaulted a 52-year-old woman in Queens, authorities said Tuesday.
NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea said police collared suspect Ronald Williams, 21, at a hotel in Columbia, S.C., on a probation warrant.
“This is very good news for the residents in Queens,” Shea said as he announced the arrest during a Tuesday news conference.
Williams had been wanted for questioning in the vicious Monday morning attack outside the Dara Gardens apartment complex on 72nd Road and Kissena Blvd. in Pomonok. The victim was attacked about 8:30 a.m. after she dropped her son off at school.
A man following the woman grabbed and dragged her to an outdoor stairwell, where he beat her so badly that her face was barely recognizable, police sources said. She was in such poor shape that she was placed on a ventilator, and detectives couldn’t speak to her for several days.
Shea called the crime a “horrific assault.”
No charges were immediately filed as police begin an extradition proceeding.
