Stamp them ‘stupid’
COPS IN QUEENS stamped out a crew of mail crooks they caught red-handed stealing an entire blue postal mailbox from the street early Friday, officials said.
Three men ripped the mailbox out of the concrete on 67th Road and Yellowstone Blvd. in Forest Hills about 3 a.m., cops said.
The trio were loading it into the rear of a Honda Odyssey when police spotted them.
Cops managed to grab one of the thieves, a 30-year-old man. The other two ran off and were still being sought.
Charges against the man in custody were pending, an NYPD spokeswoman said.
Assistant Chief Juanita Holmes, the commanding officer of Patrol Borough Queens North, praised the arrest Friday.
“Great arrest by the @NYPD112Pct Midnight Crime Team protecting New Yorkers while most are asleep,” Holmes tweeted. “They caught 3 perpetrators in the act of putting an entire mailbox in a van.”
