Harry Reid cancer op

FORMER Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is suffering from pancreatic cancer and underwent surgery Monday as the first part of his treatment, his family said.

Reid, 78, a Democrat, served Nevada for 30 years before retiring last year following a debilitating eye injury.

The former pol had surgery on Monday at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. His family said the prognosis for his recovery is good.
