Residents of the boroughs may get a break on Long Island Rail Road fares as part a pilot program to ease their long commutes.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority board plans to vote this week on the Atlantic Ticket Field Study, which cuts LIRR oneway fares to $5 and one-week passes to $60 — roughly half the regular cost — on trips to Atlantic Terminal from nine rail stations.
