Trayvon kin: Weinstein Co. is cheating us

- Nancy Dillon

THE PARENTS of Trayvon Martin claim the Weinstein Co. is trying to weasel out of paying them at least $150,000.

Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin filed paperwork in federal bankruptcy court in Delaware on Friday claiming the Weinstein Co. signed a deal in March 2017 promising to pay the six-figure sum to produce a TV series based on their book, “Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin.”

“Episodes of a television series have been filmed but not yet aired,” the filing obtained by the Daily News states. The Weinstein Co. owes the money to Fulton and Martin for “executive producer services,” the pair argue.

The book by Fulton and Martin centers on the 2012 killing of their unarmed 17-year-old son by George Zimmerman.

Zimmerman claimed self-defense and was acquitted of seconddegree murder in a verdict that caused outrage and helped spark the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Weinstein Co. filed for bankruptcy protection in March following allegations from scores of women that its co-founder Harvey Weinstein was a serial sex predator. A sale of the company was approved May 8.
