Cop slain in Md.
A MARYLAND police officer was run over and killed Monday afternoon after responding to a “suspicious vehicle” in a leafy Baltimore suburb, authorities said.
Neighbors tried to save the cop, who was believed to have confronted a suspected burglar in a Jeep around 2 p.m. in the Perry Hall community, police said.
One witness heard the Baltimore County officer repeatedly demand, “Get out of the car!” while another saw her draw her gun on a person in the Jeep.
Both neighbors heard a “pop.”
“He saw the Jeep take off and run right over her,” said Tony Kurek, whose son watched the fatal hit-andrun unfold.
The officer was bleeding from her head when Kurek’s volunteer firefighter son rushed out to help.
The officer, who was not identified and had been on the force for four years, died at a local hospital.
