Man held as part of gun crew
A BROOKLYN MAN was part of a scheme that supplied firearms from Virginia to gang affiliates in New York, authorities said.
Tyshon Stevens, 34, was one of three people arrested Wednesday in a caper that sold guns over Facebook.
Brooklyn federal prosecutors say between April 2017 and last month, the ring used straw buyers to obtain more than 40 guns — including one Glock pistol on which fingerprints supposedly can’t be detected.
Court papers say Stevens helped the alleged mastermind, Joseph Johnson of Virginia Beach, find people over Facebook to buy guns from licensed dealers.
Johnson then sold the guns to shady characters.
Prosecutors said in one June 2017 Facebook exchange, Johnson wrote to someone, “Glocks are for serious accurate no fingerprint love . . . (plastic) frame means no prints.”
Stevens was arrested in Virginia last month, when authorities found him driving a MercedesBenz with three guns in the trunk.
Johnson, 34, and Brianna Glee, 25, of Virginia Beach, were to be arraigned Wednesday in Norfolk Federal Court.
Stevens and Johnson are facing up to 20 years in prison if convicted on the gun trafficking conspiracy charges.
