Woman’s arm in gator jaws
A MISSING Florida woman’s arm was found inside an alligator’s mouth Friday, leading authorities to fear the worst.
Shizuka Matsuki, 47, was taking a morning stroll along Silver Lakes Rotary Nature Park in Davie with her two dogs when people notice she just disappeared.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed the gator attacked Matsuki.
Trappers later caught the 12-foot reptile in the lake. Police were still searching for Matsuki’s body late Friday.
One of her dogs suffered a gash on its side and was treated at an animal care facility.
Alligators and people often cross paths in Florida, though fatal attacks are rare.
The odds of an unprovoked gator attack are one in 3.2 million, according to the state’s Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Since 1948, 24 Floridians have been killed by alligators.
In 2016, 2-year-old Lane Thomas Graves, of Nebraska was eaten by a gator at the Grand Floridian resort at Walt Disney World.
