104 — and she’s the younger sister

- BY JOE DZIEMIANOWICZ

Bronx charmer Amparo Perez showed that she still takes the cake at her 104th birthday on Friday.

Wearing a contagious grin and a pink tiara that was made for partying, Perez shared memories and laughs with close friends and her big sister, Evangelina Williams, who turned 106 in April.

The Cuban-born siblings are roommates at the Triboro Center for rehabilitation and nursing in the Concourse section of the Bronx.

At a century-andchange, Perez said she felt “great.” She added that she wished “to be healthy” when she blew out the candles on her vanilla-and-chocolate layer cake.

Except for high blood pressure and poor hearing, Perez is in good health. Her secret to longevity? “Do your best to take care of yourself,” she said.

“Amparos’s an extrovert who’s always smiling,” recreation director Rose Ferreira told the Daily News. “She reminded people her birthday was coming up all week.”

Perez paints for fun and showed off her art at the party. That’s fitting for a 104-year-old who has mastered the art of living a long, happy life.
