Lefties unite in state Senate bids

A pair of Brooklyn progressive state Senate Democratic candidates is set to announce on Thursday they will back each other’s bids.

The two 27-year-old firsttime candidates are Julia Salazar and Ross Barkan.

Salazar, a self-described democratic socialist, is running a primary challenge against longtime incumbent Sen. Martin Dilan in north Brooklyn. Barkan, of Bay Ridge, is in a Democratic primary against Andrew Gounardes to see who will take on veteran GOP Sen. Martin Golden.in south Brooklyn.
