Henderson back with Big Blue

- BY PAT LEONARD

Return man Quadree Henderson cleared waivers and re-signed with the Giants on a practice squad contract Wednesday, according to sources, one day after the team released him to activate defensive lineman RJ McIntosh.

Henderson, an undrafted rookie out of Pitt, recorded the Giants’ longest punt return since 2015 in his NFL debut in Atlanta a few weeks ago (21 yards).

He added a 19-yarder against Washington prior to the bye and was averaging 7.8 yards per return and taking care of the ball, after the Giants had burnt through several unsuccessful returners and were averaging a paltry 2.8 yards per return prior.

The Giants waived him anyway, despite coach Pat Shurmur saying Henderson was coming along as a receiver learning the system, too.

Corey Coleman is a candidate to handle punt return duties on Monday Night at San Francisco, if it’s not Jawill Davis coming back from a concussion.

Odell Beckham Jr. also goes back on occasion.
