Man hit & killed by SUV in Queens

A 72-year-old man crossing against the light in Queens was fatally struck by an SUV early Friday, police said.

The elderly man was crossing the Horace Harding Expressway — a service road to the Long Island Expressway — by Main St. going north around 4:45 a.m., when a 2008 Toyota Sienna (photo) traveling west plowed into him.

Medics arrived at the Kew Gardens Hills scene and took the man to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, but he couldn’t be saved.

The SUV driver stayed at the scene and was not arrested.
