Man’s body is found at GWB

-

A man was found dead under the George Washington Bridge Saturday after apparently making a fatal leap from the span, officials said.

The unidentified victim, believed to be in his 60s, was found sprawled out on the ground at a fenced-in spot in Fort Washington Park on the Manhattan side of the Hudson River bridge about 8:30 a.m.

The body was at the base of the bridge’s “anchorage” near the Henry Hudson Parkway, (photo) said.

Members of the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit were called to cut through a fence to allow first responders to reach the body.

A report of a second jumper by the George Washington Bridge at the same time was unfounded, with cops finding only a discarded jacket in the water, officials said.
