Wife killed in car- house crash

-

An elderly woman was killed when her husband lost control while driving their car in Staten Island and crashed into a neighbor’s house Monday, authorities said.

Mary Pannese, 81, was in the front passenger seat when her 80yearold husband careened through a chainlink fence and collided with the unoccupied house across the street from their home on Jackson Avenue near Cedar Avenue in Ocean Breeze around 10 a. m., cops said.

Pannese was rushed to Staten Island University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver was taken to the same hospital and was in stable condition.

Pannese was described as “sociable” and “always smiling” by longtime bingo partner and friend Maria Mobilia.

“She was at 5 o’clock Mass every Saturday,” she told the Staten Island Advance, describing their time together at Holy Rosary Church in South Beach.

“I’m shocked . . . I can’t believe this happened to her.” Antonio Antenucci
