US Open women’s champion Flavia Pennetta celebrated her win with fiancé Fabio Fognini over dinner with two friends at Gallaghers Steakhouse Saturday night. Pennetta, the women’s world No. 2626, beat longtime friend Roberta Vinci on Saturday to win her first career major title, then announced her retirement. According to fellow diners, Pennetta seemed in jubilant spirits, ordering a porterhouse steak for three, a bottle of Champagne and a bottle of red wine, then toasting with her friends and Fognini, a fellow tennis pro, who himself caused a stir at the US Open by upsetting Rafael Nadal in five sets. One patron said, “They seemed on top of the world.”
