Gov foe Wu joins Schneid

-

A former candidate for lieutenant governor and opponent of Gov. Cuomo has reportedly been hired by state Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.

Columbia law professor Tim Wu — who teamed with Zephyr Teachout as she tired to wrestle the Democratic nomination from Cuomo — will work as a senior lawyer and special adviser to Schneiderman, The New York Times reported.

“If I have a life mission, it is to fight bullies,” Mr. Wu, told the Times. “I like standing up for the little guy, and I think that’s what the state AG’s office does.”

Wu has been an influential voice when it comes to technology. The Times said he will focus on protecting tech consumers and “ensuring fair competition online.”

Schneiderman’s office has already targeted popular Web companies, such as Airbnb, alleging “widespread illegality” in the site’s Manhattan listings.

“Just because a company has an app instead of a storefront doesn’t mean consumerprotection laws don’t apply,” Schneiderman wrote last year in a Times OpEd. Joe Tacopino
