Cookie for president

AT the premiere of “Don’t Think Twice,” “Empire” co-creator Danny Strong chatted about the presidential race and the Republican National Convention, so we asked him if it inspired him to put the Lyon family into politics in the show’s next season. “Yeah, Cookie Lyon is going to run for president,” Strong said. “Actually, that’s the movie — Cookie for president,” he quipped. He even has a title picked out: “The Cookie Ticket.” The Lyon family would make for some real drama on the campaign trail. Also at the screening were a slew of comic actors including Keegan-Michael Key, Gillian Jacobs, SNL’s Aidy Bryant and Sasheer Zamata, Chris Gethard and Mike Birbiglia, who wrote and directed the movie.
