Slide down polls a record

A majority of Americans disapproves of President Trump’s performance, according to two polls out Sunday, marking the worst first100-days rating for any modern president.

An NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll found 54 percent of Americans disapprove of Trump, compared with 40 percent who approve.

And an ABC News-Washington Post poll found 53 percent of Americans disapprove, while 42 percent are happy with Trump’s performance.

Going back to 1945, when Harry S. Truman was in office, no president has seen such a low approval rating approaching their first 100 days in the White House.

But Trump remains more popular than one key political figure — Hillary Clinton.

The ABC-Post poll found Trump would win the popular vote if the election were held today, with 43 percent to Clinton’s 40 percent.

That’s because 96 percent of those who supported him in November remain loyal and just 2 percent say they regret their vote.

However, just 85 percent of Clinton’s voters would stick with her today, according to the poll.

“Would still beat Hillary in popular vote. ABC News/ Washington Post Poll (wrong big on election) said almost all stand by their vote on me & 53% said strong leader,” Trump tweeted.
