Rehabbing Rose considers return

- By MARC BERMAN

Derrick Rose, showing up courtside in Chicago for Game 4 of the Celtics-Bulls series with his 4-year-old son, said his knee surgery has not deterred him and still is eyeing the Knicks as a future destination.

The free-agent point guard played 64 games for the Knicks this season, then had arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee on April 6, and now has a load of uncertainty regarding his future. Amid a club swimming in turmoil after a 31-51 season, Rose, who is rehabbing in Chicago, sounded positive Sunday night about the Knicks.

“I’m going into it with an open mind and will listen to everyone,” Rose told the Chicago Tribune. “Last season sucked losing. But it was a great experience. I loved the guys that I played with and I loved the coaching staff. And who wouldn’t like playing in New York? It was great.”

The Knicks announced Rose would need six weeks of rehab after his the fourth knee surgery of his career.

“It’s good,” Rose said of his knee. “Right now, I’m doing rehab. It’s going to take time. I’ll be back before the season starts. So I’m not worried about that.”

As for his United Center cameo, Rose said he showed up just to show his son, P.J., playoff basketball.

“If I was by myself, it might be a little bit weird. But I’m with him,” Rose said. “He makes it a lot easier. I look at it all that happened in the past. The memories will always be there. My heart is still here when I visit. I just love basketball, so I had to watch.

“I just wanted to show him a good time. That was it. It seemed like a good series and I just wanted to be around a playoff atmosphere.”
