NYC and US average test scores for NAEP and SAT
City students’ scores on the SAT and the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) — a congressionally mandated test given to fourth-, eighth-, and 12th-graders every two years — have slightly improved in the past five years but continue to lag behind public-school peers nationwide. NAEP scores are based on a 0-500 scale; SAT scores are based on a 200-800 scale.
