Liza still has plenty of zing
ARCADIA, Calif.’s Pasadena Symphony and Pops Sierra Summer Concert Series of Broadway’s Golden Age in LA’s Arboretum — ever hear so many words? — honored one word: LIZA.
After selling her longtime big-time East Side NYC home, Liza Minnelli now lives in a high-rise Out There. Close friends honored her. Pops conductor Michael Feinstein, a longtime forever buddy, located Liza’s West Coast apartment for her. Joel
Grey, who performed and also appeared alongside her, was Liza’s “Cabaret” co-star.
Joel: “There was a film sequence, and we sang duets and standards from ‘West Side Story,’ ‘Oklahoma!,’ ‘Grease,’ ‘Cabaret,’ songs from Rodgers and Hammerstein, Marvin Hamlisch, Cy Coleman, Jule Styne, Frank Loesser. Nobody was certain how she’d be, but she’s relaxed, sounded wonderful, and a crowd of 10,000 loved her.”
Liza Minnelli: At 71, she sang well and pleased adoring fans.
