Muslim teen slain near DC
A 17-year-old Muslim girl was murdered in the Virginia suburbs of Washington — and police have found what they believe are her remains in a pond.
Nabra Hassanen, of Reston, Va., was praying for Ramadan at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society Center early Sunday before walking to a restaurant with friends, The Washington Post reported.
The teens were leaving the eatery when a man approached in a car and began arguing with them, the paper reported.
He got out and beat Hassanen with a baseball bat, then abducted her, cops said.
Darwin Martinez Torres, 22, of Sterling, later was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death, officials said.
Police discovered a body in a pond in Sterling at around 3 p.m.
