US quits UNESCO for bias vs. Israel

New York Post - - NEWS - Yaron Steinbuch, Wires

The Trump administration announced Thursday it would pull out of UNESCO, citing anti-Israeli bias — and the Israeli government quickly said it would, too.

“This decision was not taken lightly, and reflects US concerns with mounting arrears at UNESCO, the need for fundamental reform in the organization, and continuing anti-Israel bias at UNESCO,” the State Department said.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “This is a brave and moral decision, because UNESCO has become the theater of the absurd and because, instead of preserving history, it distorts it.”
