Cops shoot BB gunman
Brooklyn cops shot a man brandishing a weapon that turned out to be a BB gun on Thursday night, officials said.
Officers responded to a 911 call of an armed man inside Zaid Deli at 3323 Church Ave. in East Flatbush at 10:06 p.m., said NYPD Chief of Patrol Terence Monahan.
They chased him north on East 34th Street, ordered him to drop the gun and shot him in the leg when he didn’t, cops said. The wounded man kept running before officers caught him inside 189 E. 34th St. and recovered his weapon — which turned to be a BB gun, Monahan said.
The suspect was in critical condition at Kings County Hospital.
Police said one shot was fired, but one neighborhood resident observed, “I heard . . . a bunch of gunshots.”
