On to Houston!

New York Post - - POST OPINION -

How about them underdog Yankees, eh? Back in April, they weren’t expected to make the playoffs. Now they’re in the league championship series after knocking out the Cleveland Indians, who won 102 games in the regular season.

And they did so after being down 2-0. Add in the wild-card playoff, and the Baby Bombers have pulled off four victories in win-or-you’re-out contests. That’s grit.

Wednesday’s standout star was shortstop Didi Gre-glorious, with two homers in his first two at-bats. Talk about filling Derek Jeter’s cleats . . . Gregorius shared the glory with the hurlers, as starter CC Sabathia struck out nine Indians and left the game in the fifth inning with the Yankees on top. Then the closing duo of David Robertson and Aroldis Chapman threw 4 2/3 shutout innings to finish off the Tribe.

In their first American League Championship Series since 2012, the Yanks take on the Houston Astros starting Friday.

October and the New York Yankees: The classic combo remains so very sweet.
