Shrieks thwart invader

- Daniel Prendergast

A home invader tried to force his way into a woman’s Financial District apartment over the weekend, but was scared away when her screams woke her roommate, police said on Monday.

The intruder followed the woman into her Water Street building at around 10:45 p.m. Sunday, according to cops.

He then continued up behind her until she reached her apartment, authorities said.

When the woman opened her apartment door, the man tried to push his way past her to get inside, according to cops.

She began screaming, which woke up her roommate, officials said.

The startled creep — who was said to be in his 30s and wore a white hoodie — backed off and eventually fled the building, according to officials.

Neither the woman nor her roommate was injured, police said.
