Overhaul targets ObamaCare, too

New York Post - - NEWS - Marisa Schultz

Republican senators are modifying their tax plan to include a repeal of ObamaCare’s individual mandate.

Ending the mandate would mean more funds for tax cuts since fewer people would apply for subsidized health plans.

But killing the individual mandate — as proposed by Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee — would also deal a deathblow to ObamaCare and send premiums skyrocketing without the built-in competition.

Budget Director Mick Mulvaney said the ObamaCare repeal is “absolutely not” necessary to earn the president’s signature.

“We want the very best tax bill that can pass,” Mulvaney said.
