Professor: Teaching Millennials How To Think

New York Post - - POST OPINION -

Law school teacher Adam Macleod at Minding the Campus says his millennial students “want to learn” but increasingly “cannot think, don’t know very much and are enslaved to their appetites and feelings.” Their minds, he says, “are held hostage in a prison fashioned by elite culture and their undergraduate professors” that leads them to resist classic texts, denouncing them as “racist” and making them “unable to engage with those ideas on the merits.” So he’s banned the use of any word ending in “ism” unless it describes an ideology. Another step: Students must demonstrate that they “understand three things” about whatever view they’re criticizing. And finally: Anyone who begins a statement “with the words ‘I feel’ ” rather than “I think” must “cluck like a chicken or make some other suitable animal sound.”
