Cash and gear looted from fed’s car

New York Post - - NEWS - Tina Moore and Daniel Prendergast

A thief broke into an FBI agent’s vehicle parked in the shadow of Federal Plaza in lower Manhattan and stole a safe containing more than $7,800 and several bullet- proof vests, police said.

The 30-year-old agent parked her car Monday night at the corner of Thomas Street and Broadway — across the street from the building that houses the feds’ New York field office — and discovered that the vehicle had been burglarized when she returned just before 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Police said the theft was caught on surveillance video but could not say what time it occurred.

Along with the missing safe and the cash, three bulletproof vests were gone, along with a hand- held radio, authorities said.

Police are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made.
