Mayor’s bike ride returns April 30
The Mayor’s Fun Ride, which began last year, returns April 30 with two courses instead of one.
Participants can choose the 2.5-mile family fun ride or a scenic 8.5-mile ride for advanced cyclists.
“This event helps showcase the amazing trail system we have in Newark while encouraging physical activity and proper bike safety,” said Mayor Polly Sierer said in a statement. “By adding a second, shorter route, we hope to encourage more families with children to join us and practice riding safely, while enjoying quality time together in their own community.”
Both rides begin at Newark Shopping Center. Check-in for cyclists begins at 10 a.m., and the 2.5-mile ride will leave the shopping center at 10:30 a.m. The 8.5mile ride will depart at 11 a.m. In addition to the two rides, the event will feature educational and safety information, raffles, prizes and children’s activities.
Registration is $5 for an adult and free for children 17 and under. To register, visit www.cityofnewarkde.us/play.
