More than 350 people turned out to McVey Elementary School on Saturday for the Christina Color Dash.

The 5K run/walk was a color run, during which volunteers doused the runners with dyed cornstarch as they made their way along the course, which snaked through the Robscott neighborhood.

Wendy Lapham, a spokeswoman for the Christina School District, said McVey officials planned the event as a way for students and families from around the district to get together to have fun.

“The concept of color runs have become very popular,” Lapham said. “They thought it would be a great way to get people out.”

The race raised money for the Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation, which supports childhood cancer research. However, the total was not available as of Wednesday.

Lapham said the school hopes to make the race an annual event.
