Welsh Tract Road will be closed to through-traffic for nearly a month.

The closure will allow a contractor to install water and sewer lines and remove curbs in preparation for a new neighborhood under construction.

The road closed Tuesday morning and will remain closed through Sept 2.

The work, being done near the intersection of Ironside Road, blocks through-traffic between South College Avenue and Otts Chapel Road. However, local traffic still has access to the neighborhoods along the road.

Ironside Crossing, located between Ironside and Whitaker roads, is a 20-unit development consisting of townhouses and duplexes. Pre-construction sales are underway, with the homes starting at approximately $280,000.
