Burglar steals TVs, cash while residents sleep
Someone snuck into a Nottingham Green home while the residents were asleep and made off with their TVs and other items.
According to Newark Police spokesman Cpl. James Spadola, the theft occurred sometime between Aug. 19 and Aug. 20 in the 900 block of Baylor Drive.
The victim told police she went to sleep at approximately 11:30 p.m. and woke up at 5 a.m. to take her dog outside. On her way out, she noticed the front door was open even though it was locked when she and her roommates went to bed.
Spadola said the victim then walked around the house and realized two flatscreen TVs worth $800 total were gone, as were as a Samsung cellphone and an undisclosed amount of cash.
Police believe the burglar got in through a rear garage door, which was left unlocked, but have not identified any suspects at this time.
