Police: Man inappropriately touched woman in supermarket
Police arrested a Newark man over the weekend and charged him with grabbing a woman’s crotch while she was shopping at Acme.
The defendant is identified as 63-yearold Lawrence Dilorenzo.
According to Cpl. James Spadola, a spokesman for the Newark Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 12:59 p.m. Aug. 17 at the grocery store in Suburban Plaza off Elkton Road.
The victim, a 22-year-old woman, told police she was helping a man on a motorized shopping cart and as she walked away, the man put his hand in her crotch region, Spadola said. He left the store shortly after, and the victim didn’t report the incident until the next day.
Spadola said police reviewed Acme’s surveillance footage and identified the man as Dilorenzo. He was arrested on Sunday at the intersection of South Main Street and West Delaware Avenue and charged with third-degree unlawful sexual contact. He was later released on $500 unsecured bail and issued a no contact order with the victim and Acme.
