An­nual triathlon in­cludes swim in Ne­wark Reser­voir

More than 260 peo­ple par­tic­i­pated in the fourth-an­nual Top of Delaware Triathlon on Sun­day morn­ing.

A unique fea­ture of the triathlon is the quar­ter-mile swim in the Ne­wark Reser­voir, where swim­ming is typ­i­cally pro­hib­ited.

Fol­low­ing the swim, par­tic­i­pants biked 11.4 miles through north­ern Ne­wark and White Clay Creek State Park be­fore fin­ish­ing with a 2.6-mile run in Redd Park, which is ad­ja­cent to the reser­voir.

Brett Saun­ders, 19, fin­ished first in the race with a time of 1:01:20.
