Annual triathlon includes swim in Newark Reservoir
More than 260 people participated in the fourth-annual Top of Delaware Triathlon on Sunday morning.
A unique feature of the triathlon is the quarter-mile swim in the Newark Reservoir, where swimming is typically prohibited.
Following the swim, participants biked 11.4 miles through northern Newark and White Clay Creek State Park before finishing with a 2.6-mile run in Redd Park, which is adjacent to the reservoir.
Brett Saunders, 19, finished first in the race with a time of 1:01:20.
