Art gallery reception: Tonight, 6 to 8 p.m., at Newark Arts Alliance, 276 E. Main St. A reception will introduce NAA’s exhibit “Up Close in the Garden” which features art focused on detail and intricacy in the garden. The exhibit will be on display through June 24. Free. New Night Downtown: Saturday, 3 to 9
p.m., Main Street. Newark’s annual street festival will feature vendors, food, craft sales, kids games and more. Free. Parking available in city lots at no charge.
Council meeting: Monday, 7 p.m. at city hall, 220 S. Main St. Council will vote on several issues, including the purchase of a license plate recognition system for the parking division, the installation of a new pedestrian signal on Delaware Avenue and new regulations for cellphone towers. The board will also discuss the procedure for firing a city manager, the rules of decorum during meetings and the possibility of requiring council sponsorship for ordinances. Concert: Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., at White Clay Creek State Park’s Carpenter Recreation Area, 880 New London Road. Big Package Band will perform as part of the park’s weekly summer concert series. Free, but park fees apply. Concert: Thursday, 7 p.m., on the Academy Lawn. The Newark Parks and Recreation Department’s spring concert series continues with a performance by The Juveniles.
