Maryland man wanted for shoplifting at Newark gas station
Newark Police are looking for a man from North East, Md., who allegedly stole a carton of cigarettes and a drink from a Sunoco in Newark last week.
The suspect is identified as 25-year-old Kyle R. Teat.
According to NPD spokesman Lt. Fred Nelson, a man walked into the Sunoco, located at 287 S. Main St., just before 9:49 a.m. July 19 and approached the front coun- ter with an iced tea. Nelson said the man also asked the cashier for a carton of cigarettes.
The man then allegedly used a card to pay for both items, but it was declined. When the cashier told him his card had been declined, the man grabbed both items – worth $68.98 – and fled the store, Nelson said. He then got into a beige Pontiac with Maryland registration 4748Z1 and left.
Nelson said officers were able to identify the suspect as Teat based on the car’s registration and obtained a warrant for his arrest, but have not yet located him.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or with information on Teat’s whereabouts should contact Cpl. Peter Barnes at 302366-7100 ext. 3432 or PBarnes@newark.de.us.
