Police: Man apprehended during burglary at Newark home
Officers responding to a reported burglary in process Tuesday were able to apprehend the suspect who was still inside the vacant home, police reported.
Witnesses reported a possible burglar y at a vacant residence in the 400 block of Stafford Avenue, Newark Police Department spokesman Lt. Fred Nelson repor ted. Upon arrival, officers found a broken window at the front of the house and saw a man inside the residence, looking around with a flashlight.
Police ordered the man out of the house and arrested him without incident, Nelson reported. The defendant was identified as Jesse Simienski, 36, of Newark.
Nothing was removed from the residence prior to the officers’ arrival, but the damage to the window was estimated to be $100, police reported.
Simienski was charged with one count each of attempted seconddegree burglary and criminal mischief under $1,000. He was video arraigned in front of Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $5,100 unsecured bond
