Po­lice: Man ap­pre­hended dur­ing bur­glary at Newark home

Of­fi­cers re­spond­ing to a re­ported bur­glary in process Tues­day were able to ap­pre­hend the sus­pect who was still in­side the va­cant home, po­lice re­ported.

Wit­nesses re­ported a pos­si­ble bur­glar y at a va­cant res­i­dence in the 400 block of Stafford Av­enue, Newark Po­lice Depart­ment spokesman Lt. Fred Nel­son re­por ted. Upon ar­rival, of­fi­cers found a bro­ken win­dow at the front of the house and saw a man in­side the res­i­dence, look­ing around with a flash­light.

Po­lice or­dered the man out of the house and ar­rested him with­out in­ci­dent, Nel­son re­ported. The de­fen­dant was iden­ti­fied as Jesse Simien­ski, 36, of Newark.

Noth­ing was re­moved from the res­i­dence prior to the of­fi­cers’ ar­rival, but the dam­age to the win­dow was es­ti­mated to be $100, po­lice re­ported.

Simien­ski was charged with one count each of at­tempted sec­ond­de­gree bur­glary and crim­i­nal mis­chief un­der $1,000. He was video ar­raigned in front of Jus­tice of the Peace Court 11 and re­leased on $5,100 un­se­cured bond
