Halloween at Suburban Plaza
Annual harvest festival draws costumed revelers
Heavy rain on Sunday unfortunately forced the cancellation of Newark’s Halloween parade. However, one day earlier, hundreds of local kids had the chance to celebrate Halloween at Suburban Plaza’s annual harvest festival. Sponsored by the various businesses in the shopping center, the event is in its 22nd year and featured free food, music, trick-or-treating at stores and costume contests for both kids and pets.
Ten-year-olds Casey Johnson (dressed as Uma from the Disney move “Descendants 2”) and friend Luke Borcherdt (dressed as a jester clown) attend the Suburban Plaza Harvest Festival.
Adalynn Bedford, 4, is dressed as a princess as she dances with grandmother Jen Alexander at the Suburban Plaza Harvest Festival on Saturday.
Cathy Rogers dressed up her shih tzu, Toby, for Halloween.
Nyla Numan, 11, and Alia Numan, 5, collect candy from Acme employee Beth Howell during Saturday’s harvest festival at Suburban Plaza.
Costumed kids enjoy a train ride of sorts in the parking lot of Home Depot on Saturday.
