Chapel St. With charm, wit and heart, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” explores life through the eyes of iconic anti-hero Charlie Brown along with his friends from the Peanuts gang and his ever-faithful dog Snoopy. Event benefits the Glasgow swim team. Santa Cause 5K: Saturday, 10 a.m., starts near the corner of Amstel Avenue and Orchard Road. Participants are encouraged to wear Santa hats for the 5K run/walk, which benefits several local nonprofits. An afterparty is planned at The Deer Park Tavern. Orchestra concert: Sunday, 3 p.m., at the Independence School, 1300 Paper Mill Road. The Newark Symphony Orchestra will perform several pieces, including Aaron Copland’s “A Lincoln Portrait,” which will be narrated by former UD professor and CNN correspondent Ralph Begleiter Tickets $15-$25. Council meeting: Monday, 7 p.m., at city hall, 220 S. Main St. Council will consider a proposal to increase the cost of parking downtown and vote on a plan to build student apartments on Benny Street, among other issues. Special council meeting: Wednesday, 6:30 p.m., at city hall, 220 S. Main St. Council will interview several firms interested in helping the city conduct its search for a new city manager. Concert: Dec. 15, 7 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church of Newark, 292 W. Main St. The Chesapeake Silver Cornet Brass Band will perform Christmas classics. Free.
