Dark Arts Open­ing re­cep­tion: Tonight, 6 to 8 p.m., at Ne­wark Arts Al­liance, 276 E. Main St. The art dis­play uses all me­dia to ex­plore the spirit world and su­per­nat­u­ral. Show runs through Oct. 26.

Com­mu­nity cleanup: Satur­day, 9 to 11 a.m., at city

hall, at 220 S. Main St. Vol­un­teer as an in­di­vid­ual or with a group to clean up Ne­wark. Trash bags will be pro­vided.

Har­vest Arts Fes­ti­val: Satur­day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Acad­emy Lawn, 105 E. Main St. In its 10th year, the fes­ti­val dis­plays fine art and crafts for sale and an art project for all ages. Free.

Hero Run/Walk, 5K: Sun­day, 1 p.m., at Glas­gow Park Play­ground, 2275 Pu­laski High­way. Race hon­ors fallen New Cas­tle County po­lice of­fi­cer Lt. Joseph Szczerba and ben­e­fits the Brian Con­ley Vet­er­ans Re­siliency Cen­ter in Mid­dle­town. $25, $20 for ages 9-15.

GEM Stu­dio Movies: Sun­day, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., at Main Street Movies in the Ne­wark Shop­ping Cen­ter. Eight short films shot dur­ing a chil­dren’s sum­mer camp will be pre­miered. $9.

Lat­inx Her­itage Month: Mon­day, 6:30 p.m., at Clay­ton Hall Au­di­to­rium, Univer­sity of Delaware. Fea­tures per­for­mance by Amara La Negra, an en­ter­tainer and star in Love & Hip Hop: Miami, and a mod­er­ated dis­cus­sion.

His­tory Quiz­tory: Thurs­day, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Glas­gow Park, 2275 Pu­laski High­way. Learn about the area’s his­tory through ar­ti­facts and a mini-quiz. Free.

NHS Au­tumn Choral Con­cert: Thurs­day, 7 to 8 p.m., at Ne­wark High School, 740 E. Delaware Ave. A mu­si­cal per­for­mance of a stu­dent en­sem­ble.
