Newark woman charged with dumping cat litter
A Newark woman was charged with dumping grocery bags filled with cat litter along the Four Seasons Parkway south of Newark last week.
The illegal dumping allegedly took place in August, September and October. The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control was alerted to the incident through its 24-hour complaint line.
Natural Resources Police officers, in conjunction with the department’s environmental crimes unit, investigated the complaint and arrested the suspect on Oct. 30.
Deborah Collins, 58, was charged with three counts of causing or contributing to the disposal of solid waste materials. The charges carry a minimum fine of $500 each.
Collins pleaded guilty to two counts of causing or contributing to the disposal discharge of solid waste materials. She was fined $1,000, plus court costs.
