Elvin R. Souder
from 1947 until his retirement in 2006. Mr. Souder was very active in the community. He served on the board of wion Mennonite Church and he served on the board of Dock Woods Community. He was a founding board member of Penn Foundation. He also served as the Souderton Borough solicitor from 1954 to 2006 and was a director of Union National Bank.
He was part owner of the family’s business, a retail fabric store, The Souder Store, in Souderton.
He was predeceased by his wife, Esther “Patty” Souder, in 2000. They had been married 59 years. He was also predeceased by two broth- ers, Dr. Francis Souder in 2007 and Dr. Lawrence Souder in 2008.
Mr. Souder is survived by two daughters, Jane Souder Loose and her husband, John Loose, of Nantucket, Mass., and Louise Patterson Limbert and her husband, Paul Limbert, of Wheeling, W.Va.; four grandchildren, Tom Loose, Steve Loose, Susan McCardle and Mike Limbert; and nine great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his remarkable life was held on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. at wion Mennonite Church in Souderton followed by a time to greet the family.
