The Fi­nan­cial Times launched its daily, cu­rated eco­nomics newsletter to sub­scribers. The email newsletter is writ­ten by Martin Sandbu and fea­tures daily anal­y­sis of a lead­ing global econ­omy pol­icy topic. BH Me­dia Group, par­ent com­pany of The Press of At­lantic City, ac­quired At­lantic City Weekly and its as­so­ci­ated web­site, acweekly. com, from Re­view Pub­lish­ing Ltd. Swedish daily news­pa­per Sven­ska Dag­bladet will launch SvD Näringsliv Helg (SVD Busi­ness Week­end) mag­a­zine on Feb. 14. The mag­a­zine fea­tures cur­rent fi­nan­cial news and anal­y­sis and will be pub­lished ev­ery Satur­day to 125,000 house­holds in Stock­holm and sur­round­ing mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties, and to non-sub­scribers of the daily pa­per. The Ton­awanda (N.Y.) News pub­lished its last edi­tion on Jan. 31. Pub­lisher Chris Voc­cio an­nounced in Novem­ber 2014 that the fi­nal edi­tion would be in Jan­uary. Ge­orge Hob­bie founded the Ton­awanda News in 1880. The But­ler (Pa.) Ea­gle con­tracted GIS for op­er­a­tor train­ing for the pa­per’s two SLS1000 in­sert­ing sys­tems. The com­pany re­ported im­me­di­ate through­put in­creases of over 20 per­cent, GIS said. SnapSet Web Dry­ing Sys­tems and News­pa­per So­lu­tions LLC an­nounced the sale of SnapSet infrared dry­ing equip­ment to a com­mer­cial news­pa­per printer. The printer will im­ple­ment the infrared sys­tem this spring. Sud­deutsche Zeitung of Ger­many tapped ppi Me­dia for its AdX Print App, which will en­able the pa­per to man­age and over­see cur­rent ad bookings via their iPads. The app dis­plays ad­book­ing sta­tuses re­gard­less of pub­li­ca­tion date and sales zone, and shows where and in which pub­li­ca­tion an ad has been placed, and whether or not ad­di­tional ad space is avail­able. The Mu­nich-based pub­lisher also uses ppi’s PlanPag, ProPag, AdPag, Out­put Man­age­ment and ppi’s inkRe­duc­tion apps. The As­so­ci­ated Press with Au­to­mated In­sights and Zacks In­vest­ment Re­search to au­to­mat­i­cally gen­er­ate more than 3,000 sto­ries about U.S. cor­po­rate earn­ings each quar­ter. The AP said this is a ten­fold in­crease over what its re­porters and ed­i­tors pre­vi­ously cre­ated.

Hearst Mag­a­zines In­ter­na­tional launched Cos­mopoli­tan.ng in Nige­ria, the first of sev­eral planned dig­i­tal-first in­tro­duc­tions for the Cos­mopoli­tan brand around the world. Estée Lauder is the ex­clu­sive mar­ket­ing part­ner in Nige­ria for the of­fi­cial Cos­mopoli­tan.ng de­but, with a full-site spon­sor­ship for the month of Fe­bru­ary. Built on Hearst Mag­a­zines’ pro­pri­etary global con­tent man­age­ment sys­tem, Cos­mopoli­tan.ng is op­er­ated by a lo­cal ed­i­to­rial team in La­gos. TMB Pub­lish­ing chose WoodWing Soft­ware’s En­ter­prise mul­ti­chan­nel pub­lish­ing sys­tem to dis­trib­ute its con­tent in print and on­line. Su­pe­rior Me­dia So­lu­tions will in­te­grate the sys­tem with TMB’s new Dru­pal-based Web sites. Mean­time, WoodWing re­leased ver­sion 9.5 of En­ter­prise and said the new ver­sion en­ables users to tai­lor their sto­ries to chan­nel spe­cific re­quire­ments and al­lows on­line con­tent to be re­pur­posed to cre­ate a new ar­ti­cle for print. RISI — in­for­ma­tion provider for the global for­est prod­ucts in­dus­try — in­tro­duced a new ser­vice called the Pack­ag­ing In­tel­li­gence Cen­ter. PIC is an in­tu­itive on­line plat­form cus­tom­ized to the grades each user buys. It in­te­grates news and anal­y­sis, his­toric and fore­casted prices and sup­plier costs.
