The Press­room Man­ager su­per­vises press­room op­er­a­tions and platemak­ing op­er­a­tions to meet es­tab­lished qual­ity, pro­duc­tiv­ity and ef­fi­ciency ob­jec­tives.


As­sist the Op­er­a­tions Man­ager in the op­er­a­tion of the de­part­ment in achiev­ing both short and long term com­pany goals.

Su­per­vises the press­room per­son­nel; co­or­di­nate staffing needs, keep­ing staff at lev­els to meet cus­tomer de­mands and within bud­gets.

De­vel­ops de­part­ment sched­ule to en­sure ef­fec­tive and ef­fi­cient work­flow cov­er­age; tracks and man­ages time for pay­roll, works with HR and Fi­nance to re­solve pay­roll mat­ters. Works with VP of Op­er­a­tions and Op­er­a­tions Man­ager to de­velop an­nual ex­pense bud­get, and con­trib­utes to the over­all process of achiev­ing de­part­men­tal ex­pense goals and ob­jec­tives.

Di­rects and as­signs du­ties work­ing with the As­sis­tant Fore­man.

Has com­plete knowl­edge of the press­room and platemak­ing equip­ment in the op­er­a­tion. Is able to talk knowl­edge­ably with Plant Main­te­nance re­gard­ing most as­pects of their as­sign­ments.

Es­tab­lishes work pro­ce­dures and qual­ity stan­dards of the de­part­ment.

Is re­spon­si­ble for work­ing with Pre­press in the lay­out of press runs, pre­pares press con­fig­u­ra­tion, lays out color place­ment print sched­ules

En­sures all pub­li­ca­tions printed are printed on time and are of the high­est qual­ity. Has work­ing knowl­edge of the Dis­tri­bu­tion and Main­te­nance de­part­ment. Un­der­stands and pro­motes safety pro­ce­dures in­clud­ing LOTO and Haz­ard Com­mu­ni­ca­tion.

Pro­fi­ciency with Mi­crosoft Word, Ex­cel and Out­look.

Pro­fi­ciency with press­room equip­ment and sys­tems.

High School diploma/GED re­quired, with a strong me­chan­i­cal back­ground. Some man­age­ment ex­pe­ri­ence pre­ferred. Ex­pe­ri­ence in a union en­vi­ron­ment is de­sired.


Sets per­for­mance ex­pec­ta­tions as part of the per­for­mance and goal set­ting process; pro­vides clear, con­sis­tent feed­back on em­ployee per­for­mance, in­clud­ing con­duc­ing the mid-year and an­nual per­for­mance re­view; clearly de­fines roles and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties of the team mem­bers, coaches and leads the team to meet goals and dead­lines, and drives re­sults.


Rea­son­able ac­com­mo­da­tions may be made to en­able in­di­vid­u­als with dis­abil­i­ties to per­form the es­sen­tial func­tions of this po­si­tion. The po­si­tion re­quires stand­ing, walk­ing, sit­ting, repet­i­tive key­board / mouse use and view­ing a com­puter mon­i­tor for pe­ri­ods of time. The po­si­tion may re­quire as­sis­tance to the team with other ini­tia­tives which may re­quire oc­ca­sional lif ting, twist­ing, bend­ing and car­ry­ing of ma­te­ri­als up to 50 pounds. The po­si­tion is a night shift po­si­tion.
